Even though people think LA is a car town, it’s not! We have a large cycling community. Some unexpected cycling locations in LA are downtown! DTLA has the most miles of protected bike lanes in Los Angeles, and many folks don’t know about them. You can take a tour with us, or you can grab a Metro Bike share and plot your own route. Here’s  a route should you decide to make your own bike ride in downtown LA.

Pick up a Metro bike at Grand Central Market on Broadway. Take Spring St. bike lane to 11th st and head over to LA Live Crypto Arena. Then Take Figueroa St to the 2nd St. tunnel and down into Little Tokyo. Next Take Los Angeles St to Olvera St. and drop your bike at Union Station’s Metro bike kiosk, or extend your ride down to Angel City Brewery which also has a bike kiosk. This will take you on a 5 mile ride around DTLA on streets with bike lanes.

Elsewhere in the city is the LA River bike path. You can rent a bike at Spoke Cafe, and take the protected path all the way from Cypress Park to Griffith Park. Make sure you stop in at Frogtown Brewery!

There are tons more places where you can ride a bike in L.A but these are just a few. Let Handlebar Bike Tours take you on a bike ride in L.A. like a local. We keep our groups small, and our tours feel more like a bike ride with a friend rather than being herded around in an impersonal tour group.
